UPSC Postpones Civil Services Preliminary Examination to June 16

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the postponement of the civil services preliminary examination, originally scheduled for May 26, to June 16. This decision comes as a result of the overlap with the Lok Sabha elections.

In an official notice released by UPSC, it stated, “Due to the schedule of the impending general election, the commission has decided to postpone the civil services (preliminary) examination-2024 which also serves as a screening test for the Indian Forest Service examination, 2024, from 26-05-2024 to 16-06-2024.”

The Lok Sabha polls are set to be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. To avoid any clash and ensure the smooth conduct of both the civil services examination and the Lok Sabha elections, UPSC has rescheduled the preliminary examination to June 16.

This decision will provide candidates with ample time to prepare for the examination without the added pressure of overlapping with the election schedule. It also ensures the integrity and efficiency of both the civil services examination and the electoral process.

Candidates aspiring to appear for the civil services preliminary examination are advised to take note of the revised date and plan their preparation accordingly. UPSC will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary to ensure a seamless examination process.
