During a Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on March 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed ministers to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the first 100 days and the subsequent five years of the new government, according to official sources.
Chairing the meeting, PM Modi urged ministers to engage with secretaries and officials from their respective ministries to strategize and implement the agenda effectively. The directive comes in the wake of the Election Commission of India’s announcement of the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The Cabinet also took steps to formalize the dates for the seven-phase parliamentary elections by forwarding the Election Commission’s recommendations to President Droupadi Murmu. The process involves issuing the first notification on March 20 for the initial phase of polls scheduled for April 19, covering 102 constituencies. The nomination process for each phase commences upon the issuance of the notification.
Prime Minister Modi’s call for meticulous planning underscores the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises and priorities in the early days of its new term, setting the stage for effective governance and sustained progress over the next five years.
