BRS leader K Kavitha, apprehended from her Hyderabad residence by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, was brought before the Rose Avenue court in New Delhi today. Denouncing her arrest as unlawful, Kavitha asserted her determination to challenge the charges levied against her.
Upon her arrival in Delhi late last night, Kavitha underwent medical examinations at the agency’s office before being presented in court today. The ED is seeking custody for the custodial interrogation of the former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter. During the court proceedings, the agency argued that they possess substantial evidence warranting her arrest and subsequent questioning.
However, K Kavitha’s legal counsel countered the ED’s assertions, labeling her arrest as a “classic case of abuse” of power. Meanwhile, Kavitha’s brother and former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao denounced her arrest, alleging political vendetta by the BJP government. He highlighted the urgency of the matter being under judicial scrutiny and criticized the ED for purportedly disregarding its own commitments to the Supreme Court.
In his statement, KT Rama Rao underscored the need for justice to prevail and affirmed their commitment to pursuing legal recourse. The developments surrounding K Kavitha’s arrest underscore the intensifying political tensions and legal battles unfolding in Telangana, with both sides vehemently contesting the legitimacy of the charges leveled against her.
