The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the schedule for the 2024 General elections and some State Assemblies will be revealed on Saturday, March 16, at 3 p.m. The ECI will conduct a press conference in New Delhi, which will be broadcasted live on social media platforms.
Having concluded its national survey of poll preparedness across all States, including a recent tour of Jammu and Kashmir, the ECI is now set to unveil the timeline for the upcoming elections.
As political parties gear up for the electoral battle, regional and national parties have commenced the process of announcing their candidates for the 543 Parliamentary constituencies. Notably, the BJP has issued two lists containing 267 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, while the Congress has disclosed the names of 82 candidates across two lists.
Furthermore, the ECI has recently released data on electoral bonds obtained from the State Bank of India. Additionally, it has requested the return of electoral bond documents submitted to the Supreme Court in sealed covers/boxes.
